Out Now: Xen: The Zen of the Other- The Audio Play

Xen: The Zen of the Other is a work that follows one man as he attempts to find his way through the jumble of modernity that envelopes us all and threatens to strangle us in its “Tentacles Longer Than Night.”

Cast into a world where the liminal overlaps with the world of paranormal /philosophical speculations, Ezra Buckley struggles to keep his head above water long enough to pluck a jewel of wisdom from the crown of a forest spirit.

In a world devoid of rites of passage, Ezra finds himself on his own as he is confronted with the very real prospect of having a life-changing, Liminal experience in the woods of Big Sur, if he can survive it.

Is it even real?

Is it the legendary Watchers of Big Sur phenomena or something else?

Xen is a work that confronts the questions of identity, modernity, life, the other, and the place for rites of passage in the modern world.

This audio-play version of Xen includes a fully hyperlinked ebook for reference use.

Choronzon - Walk in the Eternity Where All Your Dissipated Dreams Shock

The end came and nobody noticed. No bangs or whimpers; not a ripple. The souls of the faithful were swept up to their reward, leaving a mass of aimless, fearful husks behind. They too did not notice what had happened. Their essence was shredded and consumed by the ghost they’d created over generations. To the faithless, the shells of the faithful seemed to be much the same, perhaps there was a bit more of an air of desperation, but it was hard to quantify.

The wrecks could be seen, though nobody ever noticed them, their vehicles, perfect in their shine, cell phones always at their ear, or seemingly talking to themselves with their earpieces in. They were but characters in a nightmare being experienced by a drunk lying on a street in a parallel universe. He wondered in his sleep who could possibly want to listen to these vile, empty vessels for hours on end.

A poison in his gut twisted at his insides, so he shifted in his stupor. A wave engulfed a small nation. A war dragged on in an arid and hot part of the globe. Death-squads wandered through the surrounding streets. They knew who he was and wished to separate this pole axed creator and the world he’d dreamt up. If they could bring it into a separate existence they could colonize it, for it already contained a population of perfect slaves.

The light was going out of both worlds, fading into entropic languor. The end became boring centuries before it saw fit to happen. As usual the promised spectacle failed to entrance. Audience participation was necessary to pull off the trick, but the illusion could not be agreed on.

Gods were created, and though formed fully in the minds of humans, ruled in unquestioned tyranny. Every one was dead by the end, though they had never lived. They had been brought into existence by human thought and feeling, but had also pre-dated them. They survived the end and predated the beginning. None of them were real.

The death-squad smelled blood. They didn’t know the reason for their hunt, nor question it. They’d play. They’d move. This set them apart. Blind rage was a tool to hide the futility of the search for meaning. They wanted the drunk for his self induced psychosis. Many were outside the fence, but didn’t matter any more than the billions of clones within the set limits. It was because he stopped participating, stopped talking about it and started to dream it. He would bring it all with him as he breathed his last.

People in the world being dreamed could sense their origin. Some fell into despair, some joined the stupefied creator in his habits, and others remade him in their parent’s image. Most had work to do and couldn’t be bothered to pay attention to nonsense. If the world was to end, they needed to redouble their efforts to get the project completed, the war won, the perfect partner found, the dog washed, the trash taken out. The quickening injected each action with a new urgency for a while, and then this urgency turned into despair, violence, hatred and finally apathy.

The dreamer coughed and a million press releases went out to announce the death of culture in the form of hundreds of talent-deprived young droids. Money shifted its tides in their direction. Perfect shiny vehicles blasted the news, rattling windows, killing conversation. A thousand college students died of alcohol poisoning.

Pale ghosts ran inside and barred the doors as the death-squad approached. They knew they weren’t being sought, but they also knew what it would mean to get in their way. The pale spirits vision would start to float and fray at the edges and dissolution unquestionably begin. The members of the squad could feel this too. They knew the dreamer was about to either wake up from his soul shredding trance or die, causing both worlds to be swept back into the nothingness from which it had come.

The light took on a grainy quality that could be felt, like a weak electric current, as the squad approached an alley shouting garbled curses. The buildings leaned in to get a better look and laughed. They could feel themselves melt into the pavement as they reached the corner, beyond which they’d never see.

The silent stand aside, screaming. Seas of blood swirl around them in a storm of heat and clamor. Decomposition has many things to tell you, things that are crucial to your well-being, truths you have been seeking for generations. Sometimes you act like you can hear, but it loses all coherence at these moments. Sometimes your minds take the atmospheric gibbering and fit a pattern over it, creating seeming inspiration, giving their shouts the shape of stories.

CHORONZON is a node and outlet for protracted rituals of oblique technomancy. This is in-your-face, explicitly damaged, disturbed, maniacal, frightening, psycho-schizo twisted and viciously tortured music, over-expanding itself to a point where it can get barely bearable.

Choronzon - Inside Every Vermilion Canvas

https://ingroov.es/serve-them-toxins

Shredded nerves and blown out synapses entangle to break with the consensus. At the center of the storm is found the silence with which to make the chaos to come into a groove sensation. Psychic stasis becomes decisive, surgical action, collapse becomes growth. Beneath each image is the unformed, an eternal promise.

The folks at Last Day Deaf put together a playlist called Autumn 2020 playlists : (Trapped in the turbulent, industrial, black metal womb of) Choronzon

The track list goes from early demo days chronologically (Choronzonically?) up through ///Consummation\\//Metanoia\\\, so expect a rough ride.

Availble now from Choronzon is the brand new album Serve Them Toxins, which can be downloaded as pay what you want from here.

There is much going on in the Choronzon camp, wielding chaos in ways those who seek control fear in their very subconscious. A consciousness becoming-fire exploding lines of flight...

The focus here is on groove and feel, the obscure sense of dread this year has brought. The intention was to bring a feeling when confronted with an enormous catastrophe and the stages of being overwhelmed, then angry and finally determined to overcome. Early influences like proto-metal, Maggot Brain by Parliament, and the use of reggae beats is part statement, part inspiration.

A simultaneous revelling in and recoiling from a cosmic horror laid bare to an unprepared consciousness. Parallels are drawn from witnessing the sheer scope and persistence of human folly and hubris, like a phenomenon of the death drive as precursor to the heat death of the universe.

Could be misanthropy, or just an observation. The desire to see the world burn and to dance in the ruins. The return to normal seen as a horror as great as that which is invoked by visions of disaster, and the great unravelling of society. Technocracy calcifies, dogma rots, established orders decay.

Since the late 1980’s CHORONZON has been making the marks of a thousand knives in a world that is not often seen by the mainstream media. Down a singular path CHORONZON wandered lands never previously seen to reach across to their associate chaotes in a multi-media fashion that only became possible since the turn of the century. Chaos is CHORONZON's jumping off point, discord the quantum waves and the ripples therefrom are the patterns imposed on chaos as the work filters though ears and crania. The act of listening continues the act of creation in that sense.

Choronzon is a demon or devil that originated in writing with the 16th-century occultists Edward Kelley and John Dee within the latter's occult system of Enochian magic. In the 20th century he became an important element within the mystical system of Thelema, founded by Aleister Crowley, where he is the "dweller in the abyss", believed to be the last great obstacle between the adept and enlightenment. Thelemites believe that if he is met with proper preparation, then his function is to destroy the ego, which allows the adept to move beyond the abyss of occult cosmology.

Choronzon is not an "occult themed" project. It IS the thing, it is not merely about it, or influenced by it. Each 'album' or 'working' that is offered represents actual, protracted effectuations - some to create, some to destroy, and some are aimed straight at YOU, ALONE, who first see and hear the audiotextuvisualities - which are the Power, not merely a symbol of it or pathway to it. We open the sacred to the profane, and let them mingle. But that which was too much decried and described in past times require new codes, to protect its Current and its Codex. That which was open will close, that which was shut down will open out. Prediction is futile. Give up. But "give up" properly... "Those who know don't tell. Those who tell don't know."

Just Added: Three CD's By The Mighty ETHERNAL

It is with great pleasure we bring you three of the best releases we've heard in a long time. ETHERNAL open portals to other realms and time forgotten in a balance of aggression, melody and that old black (metal) magick!

ETHERNAL - ARKIOAS $10.00 + S&H
Arkioas:
Limited Addition Digipack, beautifully designed by Ethernal, Dan Capp and Maria Kenney. Includes a lavish inlay denoting the lyrics and symbols of esoteric gnosis contained.
Ethernal - Arkioas - adds intriguing atmospheric and progressive parts to a base of old-school black metal. Not raw and frostbitten, the production is warm, the drums are natural sounding (and wonderfully played), and the guitars have a kind of rounded buzzing sound. Catchy, almost thrashy riffing gives way to epic passages, some with clean and acoustic guitars and lots of reverb and sustain. The title track even has a long passage with clean echoing picking, that wouldn't have been out of place on an early Pink Floyd album. This is a black metal band that doesn't sound like many other black metal bands.

'“Arkioas” is the kind of album that I could happily listen to on repeat for hours (or days) on end. I wouldn’t change a thing. At all. The fact that this album has somehow made me this obsessed, enthused and excited about it in such a short space of time is a true testement to the quality of work contained on it. This is something very special indeed.

ETHERNAL - GRIM ETHERNITY $10.00 + S&H
Grim Ethernity:
Original Unholy Design pressing of Grim Ethernity, jewel case, inlay including lyrics.
To me, ‘Grim Ethernity’ merely proves that Ethernal are obviously comfortable in their own skin, neither trying to impress the kvlt babies or flummox the prog noodlers. It’s rare for a band to have their own sound these days, but these guys certainly have managed it. Don’t believe me? Check ‘em out and hear for yourself."

ETHERNAL - BLACK SUN EP $5.00
Black Sun EP:
Promo produced before Arkioas, 2 tracks: Order Of The Black Sun and Ravens At dusk. A Mix and Recording not featured on Arkioas.

Acausal Occult Black Metal

ETHERNAL
Biography
At the dawning of the Galactic Aeon, Ethernal was summoned from within the Singularity to awaken those few who could still hear the voice of the Ether.
Drawing on influences ranging from Prog Rock, Classical and Metal, they forged their first demos in 2003/04. A unique, uncompromising, sonic voice for the Infinite Singularity to perpetuate into the causal world.

Ethernal released their critically acclaimed album "Grim Ethernity' in 2008. Self funded and self produced, It received excellent reviews for it's status.
After a select few devastating live performances over 2010/11 the band embarked on recording their second full length, 'Arkioas'. A reality shattering sonic hymn to the Ether was unleashed. Uncompromisingly archaic, Arkioas was released in 2012 and reflected the bands love for early to mid 90s Black Metal, as well as it's esoteric and occult values.
"...a nature oriented black metal that is also very esoteric and mind-expansive through the use of epic instrumentation."
