We are extremely proud and excited to have the privilege of presenting to you this unique and haunting work of art in sight and sound. Showing what a true artist he is, Vrhovny takes personal experiences and explores the realm of dreams and the subconscious. The scope and depth of Vrhovny's vision is one that stands out in the world of avant-garde video and his execution is matchless.

The track 'The Grand Search' is a composition conceived for the first STRUCTET appearance in 2006, The Hague. I used parts of the 45 minute material and assembled an 18 minute track.

The video itself was shot on a boat while traveling from Dutch shores to the island of Vlieland in the north sea. 

It was shot with an hand-held DV camera and post-produced adding it a 'warmer' tone. initially, I took the camera to record the engine noise (later incorporated into the score), but mainly to overcome my anxiety of boat-travel., something to keep me busy while working out disaster scenarios in my head and find the best spot on the boat if any of them happens at all. -Vrhovny

Kicks Extreme Radio 08/01/2012

Included in the first post-vacation episode is a track from our very own Dead Skull! As always this episode of Kicks Extreme Radio brings you a ton of great music and thorough info on the music you're hearing! On the Kicks Playlist post site you can stream the episode from the sidebar.

The idea of the radio show Kicks was born early 1989 when Radio Centraal expanded their broadcast schedule from 3 days each week to a whole week. Of course this expansion meant that they were looking for new shows to fill this on air time. Peggy and Bruno moved to Antwerp in 1988 and were already fans of this radio station and had been involved in other musical activities before, mostly as dj’s. So it was an obvious choice for them to express their love for all underground music by creating a weekly radio show. Since Peggy and Bruno get most of their kicks by searching for and listening to the diversity of underground music they decided this would be an excellent name for their quest. On a late Friday afternoon in May 1989 Kicks made it’s appearance on the airwaves in Antwerp. After a short while their time slot changed from 1 to 2 hours weekly. After a year it was impossible for Peggy and Bruno to combine this time slot on Friday with their daily activities so Kicks moved to Wednesday from 20:30h to 22:30h CET.

I am the founder of Nightbreed Recordings, the founder of the Nightbreed Recordings mail order service which was instrumental in the 90's and early 2000's UK gothic scene. I was in Every New Dead Ghost, I was the originator of Midnight Configuration and I am now in Death Party UK (my official side project) and am in Arcane Winter. I was also one of the founding fathers of Nightbreed Radio and I also was the main visionary behind the 90's Gothic fetish event The Carnival Of Souls. We are immensely  proud to announce the release of HYPNAGOGIA by the great Industrial - Noise - Experimental powerhouse DEAD SKULL!!! For such an assemblage of unique visionaries, our totality of offerings at this early stage is turning out to be as varied as it is cohesive. You can listen through recent original releases and we guarantee it will be a harrowing experience.

DEAD SKULL releases are always deep in conception and masterful in execution. Everything Ferenc Teglas touches is above and beyond the norm. Those of you who have the CHORONZON - Ziggurat of Dead Shibboleths DVD know very well his incredible abilities as a video artist, and he brings the same level of excellence to his musical endeavours.

THE HYPNAGOGIC BRAIN 

THE NEUROLOGICAL RELATIONSHIP TO HYPNAGOGIC IMAGERY HAS BEEN PONDERED OVER FOR DECADES. 

ONE OF FREUD'S CONTEMPORARIES, HENRY SILBERER, A BRILLIANT DREAM RESEARCHER IN HIS OWN RIGHT, THOUGHT THAT HYPNAGOGIC IMAGERY IS THE CLEAREST EXAMPLE OF AUTOSYMBOLISM, IN WHICH WHATEVER WE'RE THINKING RIGHT NOW IS CONVERTED INTO A VISUAL METAPHOR.

PSYCHOLOGIST HARRY HUNT NOTED THAT THE IMAGERY IS LESS LIKE REM DREAMING IMAGERY AND MORE CLOSELY RESEMBLING THE STUFF SEEN DURING MEDITATION, SENSORY DEPRIVATION (THE GANZFIELD EFFECT) AND ESPECIALLY THE PSYCHEDELIC ECSTACY FROM LSD OR PSILOCYBE.
MEDICAL RESEARCHER RICK STRAUSSMAN SUGGESTED IN DMT: THE SPIRIT MOLECULE, THAT THE PINEAL GLAND GIVES UP A HYPNAGOGIC TRANCE THAT IS CHARACTERIZED BY PREDOMINANT THETA BRAINWAVES.

Dead Skull is Ferenc Teglas' solo work with occasional input from Robert and Gaspar. Since Ferenc stopped with Skattor Minox after 13 years of activity, Dead Skull became his main musical endeavour. The sound of DS could be best described as spiced-up and spaced-out electronics, sometimes overlapping into power electronics genre. Vocals could be heard from time to time, but well assimilated into the overall sound spectrum. Ferenc had two unforgettable gigs with Dead Skull, both times sharing it with completely different sounding bands, which was a great experience.
